Kris Swanson
My name is Kris Swanson and I am very excited to be working with your family this year. I grew up in Winston-Salem and moved to this area when I started college at UNC-Chapel Hill and have been here ever since. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and my Master's Degree in Literacy Studies at UNC. I worked for eight years in Orange County Schools as a Reading Recovery teacher and a first grade teacher. I have taught Early Childhood Education courses through two local community colleges. For the past 13 years I've taught kindergarten and first grade here at Estes Hills. My husband, Jon, teaches at Riverside High School in Durham. I am the mother of four children: Shelby (20), Will (18), Jack (17), and Jenna Kate (7). My three older children have all attended Estes Hills and my youngest is a current second grader, so I have had the pleasure of being both a teacher and a parent here, and both have been wonderful experiences.
